Naturopathy: Working with Nature

The body has an inherent ability to establish, maintain, and restore health. Our doctors facilitate and augment this healing process by identifying the root cause of the problem you are experiencing. By not simply treating symptoms we support your body's natural healing process through identification and removal of any obstacles to cure.  We will educate you on how to continue making improvements in your diet and lifestyle to maximize your health for a lifetime.

Fundamentals of Naturopathic Medicine?
The practice of Naturopathy is deeply rooted in six fundamental principles:

The Healing Power of Nature
The body has an inherent ability to establish, maintain, and restore health. The doctor's role is to help facilitate and augment this healing process by identifying and removing the obstacles to recovery and health.

Identify and Treat the Cause
Symptoms are an expression of the body's attempt to heal, and are not the cause of the disease. Naturopathic doctors address the underlying causes of the disease rather than the symptoms, evaluating potential causes on many levels, including: mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual planes.

Treat the Whole Person
Naturopathic doctors treat the whole person by taking into consideration that disease is a condition involving many factors, including; physical, mental, emotional, genetic, social, and environmental factors. When all aspects of the individual are in harmony healing can occur.

The Physician as Teacher
The doctor's role is to educate and encourage patients to take responsibility for their health.   In doing so the goal is to empower the patient to make healthy changes.

First, Do No Harm
Symptoms, are an expression of the body's attempt to heal itself. The doctor's actions will support this healing process and not suppress it.

Prevention
Prevention is the ultimate goal of Naturopathic medicine. This is accomplished through education and promotion of healthy lifestyle habits. The doctor will assess risk factors and hereditary susceptibility to disease and make appropriate interventions to avoid future harm and risk to the patient. It is the responsibility of the doctor and patient to create a healthier environment to live in.

What conditions do we address?
At West Valley Naturopathic Center we strive to not only meet, but to exceed your (the patient's) expectation on every level. We are committed to working with you to formulate a treatment plan that will address your concerns in a multi-dimensional fashion, assisting you to make changes on a physical, mental and emotional plane in order to achieve optimum wellness. The goal is to teach you how to make healthy decisions on a daily basis to give you a lifetime of health and well being.
